Birds Soar Over N.C. Eagles 70-21

The Pettisville girls basketball team hosted North Central, Friday, Jan. 4 in a Buckeye Border Conference matchup.
The Blackbirds outscored the Eagles in every quarter on their way to a 70-21 victory.
Pettisville is 7-4, 4-1 BBC. North Central is 1-8, 0-4 BBC.
Erica King scored the first seven points of the game for a 7-0 PHS lead. Pettisville scored two more before the Eagles got on the scoreboard, and at the end of the quarter Pettisville led 20-8.
The Birds tightened their defense in the second period, holding North Central to two points and scoring 16 for a 36- 10 halftime lead.
Pettisville outscored the Eagles 19-4 in the third and 15-7 in the fourth for the 70-21 final. All PHS players received playing time, with nine of 11 scoring.
"Our ladies played a wellrounded game tonight," said Jason Waldvogel, PHS coach. "I thought we executed our offense very well, along with controlling the boards."
Pettisville was 29/44 from the floor for 65% and 10/16 from the line for 63%. King led the Birds with 16 points. Brittany Weber chipped in 15; Alexa Short, 11; and Jodi Spotts, 10.

Pettisville out-rebounded NC 45-21 and committed 14 turnovers to NC's 29.
North Central was 8/45 from the floor and 2/10 from the line.
