Truck Downs Poles Dec. 24

Two roadside poles broke after a truck augur boom swung free around 2:37 pm, Monday, Dec. 24.

Mark S. Hill, 41, Archbold, was driving a work truck owned by Archbold Elevator west on Co. Rd. L when the boom swung, hitting a telephone line, four-tenths of a mile west of Co. Rd. 16.

The Fulton County Sheriff Department report states Hill, unaware of the problem, continued driving, breaking a telephone pole and catching and breaking an electrical pole.

There were no injuries.

Arlan D. Beck, 45, rural Archbold, sustained possible injuries after a head-on collision with a snowplow at 7:20 am, Tuesday, Dec. 18.

The FCSD report states that Beck, traveling north on Co. Rd. 21, became disoriented by snow blowing across the road as Hershel D. Laster, 54, rural Lyons, approached plowing in a county-owned snowplow.

The Beck pickup crossed the centerline, striking the snowplow one-half mile north of St. Rt. 2.

No rescue squads were utilized.

Snowy roads caused a 7:58 am, Thursday, Dec. 27 auto mishap on Co. Rd. 22.

An FCSD report states a car driven by Jennifer L. Meyer, 28, Defiance, skidded off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch one-tenth of a mile south of St. Rt. 2.

She was uninjured.

There were no injuries in two deer-auto collisions near Christmas time.

A car driven by Jennifer M. Reyome, 36, rural Delta, struck a deer at 4:21 pm, Monday, Dec. 24, while traveling east on St. Rt. 2.

The mishap was one-tenth of a mile west of Co. Rd. 20.

Wednesday, Dec. 26, a sport utility driven by Sheri A. Wood, 39, Archbold, collided with a deer two-tenths of a mile east of Co. Rd. 18-1.
