Seven New Home Permits In Village Issued In 2007

The Village of Archbold issued seven zoning permits in 2007 for new single-family dwellings in Archbold.

Archbold Village Council heard the news during the Monday night, Jan. 7 meeting.

Dennis Howell, Archbold village administrator, said the number of home permits issued surprised him.

In a report, Carma Grime, village zoning inspector, said the combined stated value of the seven houses was $1,265,000, making the average cost of a newly-built home in Archbold $180,714.

During 2006, there were two single-family dwelling permits issued, with a combined total value of $890,000. That made the average cost of a new-built home in Archbold $445,000.

Total value of all the construction in the village, for which permits were issued, was $8,658,630.

That figure includes a permit for the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church project, which has a stated value of $6.6 million.

During 2006, there was no multi-million dollar project. The total value of construction for which permits were issued was $2,146,085.

Accessory Buildings

There were two permits for accessory buildings issued during 2007, with a combined value of $375,000. One building required a variance.

Three permits were issued for commercial additions, with a total value of $130,000. There were six pools, $93,400; five residential additions, $85,750; 13 fences, $43,850; nine utility sheds, $24,700; four signs, $16,300; six decks, $15,030; and one commercial parking lot, $9,620, which required a variance.

Of the 57 total permits issued, the village received $1,970. Another $325 was collected from variances, for a total of $2,295.

For November

During the month of November, the village issued three zoning permits.

There was one permit for a single-family dwelling, one for an accessory building addition at Fairlawn Haven, and a residential addition. None required a variance.

No permits were issued in December.
