Letter To The Editor

The 12/26/07 Buckeye editorial attempted to compare recently increased (deservedly so) benefits for village and library employees, and Archbold educators.

It's fruitless to make such comparisons, because this is not a case for an "apples to apples" comparison. For example, educators have great personal expenses relating to the costs of their license, and certification. Additionally, there is no such thing as overtime pay for educators.

I believe that it is divisive to continuously decry the tax costs of the excellent services being provided by all of our dedicated public employees. Please don't forget that public employees are also taxpayers.

It is my opinion that tax dollars spent locally "bear much more fruit" than those spent at the state and federal level.

Excellence costs, and we will reap what we sow.

Jim Redd Archbold
