Two Motorists Are Cited For Failure to Control

A man and woman were cited for failure to maintain reasonable control in separate auto incidents, Thursday, Dec. 27.

A car driven by Jerry W. Bernath, 63, Archbold, was stopped on Co. Rd. BC at the St. Rt. 66 intersection. A pickup driven by Randall L. Volkman, 57, Archbold, was traveling south on St. Rt. 66 and attempted to turn right onto BC.

An Archbold Police Department report states Volkman was cited after his car slid on the snow-covered road into the stopped Bernath vehicle at around 7:02 am, incurring nonfunctional damage to the left front of the pickup.

Volkman was driving eight miles per hour during the turn.

Wendy J. Rayoum, 35, Lyons, was cited in an 8:19 am one-car incident that caused no damage while she was southbound on Co. Rd. 22.

The APD report states Rayoum lost control of her car 360 feet north of Co. Rd. D while attempting to slow down. The Rayoum car drove off the right side of the road and struck a traffic sign.

Rayoum traveled at 25 mph in a 50 mph zone.

An APD report states Evelyn M. Weber, 66, rural Wauseon, failed to maintain reasonable control while she pulled up to a garage at 941 West Barre Rd, around 9:45 am Sunday, Dec. 23.

In the report, Weber said her foot slipped from the brake to the accelerator, causing her vehicle to strike a corner of the garage.

The garage is owned by Walter Gisel, Archbold, and leased to Carl and Angie Johnson.

Weber was not cited.
