Eight Citizens Volunteer For School Board Position

Two business owners, a firefi ghter-paramedic, and a 2008 Archbold High School graduate were among the persons who filed applications to serve on the Archbold Area School Board.

Board members appointed Tony Warncke, Archbold, to replace David Yoder, Archbold, who resigned.

Warncke was officially appointed at a special board meeting, Friday, Nov. 28.

Eight persons applied for the vacant board seat.

Other applicants were

•Sue Cuevas, Archbold, fi- nancial investment assistant with Freedom Investment Services, Archbold. She is a Pettisville High School graduate and holds a bachelor's degree from Assembly of God Christian College, Matamoros, Mexico. She is president of the Hispanic Awareness Organization, and active in several other organizations.

•Chad Kern, Archbold, inside sales manager for Granite Industries, Archbold. He attended the University of Toledo, and studied business. He is involved with the Archbold Athletic Boosters.

•Jon Lugbill, rural Archbold, owner and general manager of Brookview Farm. An AHS grad, he attended Ohio State University. He is a member of the board of the Archbold Area Chamber of Commerce and is involved in Gideons International.

•Seth Nofziger, rural Archbold. A 2008 AHS graduate, he is an assistant at Lincoln Nafziger Farms and Ross Nofziger Farms. He is studying business and accounting at Defi ance College, and is involved in the FFA Alumni.

•Jeff Rupp, rural Archbold. Rupp is a restaurant owner and a part-time purchasing agent for Granite Industries. He attended Archbold schools. He received a general education diploma.

•Dennis Shannon, Archbold, accountant for Archbold Elevator. A Defiance High School graduate, he holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Adrian (Mich.) College. He is active in Archbold Rotary, the Archbold Athletic Booster Club, and St. Peter Catholic Church. He served on the school levy committee for three elections.

•Russ Wyse, Archbold. Wyse is a firefighter, paramedic, and fire safety inspector for the Archbold Fire Department. In addition to paramedic training at the University of Toledo Medical Center and fire department training, he is an electronics technician and earned an associate degree from the Ohio Institute of Technology. An AHS graduate, he is a member and past president of the Fulton County Fireman Association, and other firefighting groups. His wife, Julie, is a teacher at AHS.

All but Nofziger have children attending Archbold Schools.
