Bird Volleyball Wins Three, Ups Record To 12-6 The Pettisville volleyball team raised its record to 12-6, 7-1 in the Buckeye Border Conference with wins over Montpelier, Stryker, and Fayette last week. The Birds traveled to Montpelier, Monday, Sept. 29, and came home with a 25-9, 25-9, 26-28, 25-17 non-league victory. PHS was back on the road, Tuesday, Sept. 30, to Stryker. The Birds beat the Panthers for the second time this season, winning 25-22, 25-14, 25-18. Pettisville hosted the Eagles, Thursday, Oct. 2, and lost the first game 22-25 before winning the next three 25-11, 25- 14, 25-6. PHS Def. Montpelier 25-9, 25-9, 26-28, 25-17 Chelsea Schmucker led the Birds with seven aces and 11 kills. She was 34/34 in serving and 24/27 in attacks. Mackenzie Nofziger had three aces and was 13/15 in serving. Haley Nofziger had 11 kills and four solo blocks. Stephanie Yoder had two solo blocks and six kills. Karina Rohrer-Meck had one ace and was 48/48 in setting. Tessa Yoder had one ace and was 31/32 in setting. Katie Weber had nine kills. The Pettisville junior varsity also won 25-9, 25-17. PHS Def. Stryker 25-22, 25-14, 25-18 Schmucker and H. Nofziger each served two aces; Weber, M. Nofziger, and Rohrer-Meck each had one. Weber had 13 kills and one solo block. S. Yoder had seven kills; H. Nofziger had six kills and five solo blocks. Rohrer-Meck was 40/40 in setting. The PHS JV won 25-20, 25- 12. PHS Def. Fayette 22-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-6 H. Nofziger had 11 kills and was 27/30 in attacks. She also had eight solo blocks. Weber and Schmucker each had eight kills; Weber also had four solo blocks, while Schmucker served three aces. S. Yoder had six kills. Lauren Bontrager and Rohrer-Meck each served two aces; T. Yoder, Weber, and M. Nofziger each served one. Rohrer-Meck was 51/51 in setting; T. Yoder was 24/24. The Blackbird JV won 25-16, 25-19. |
