AHS Volleyball Drops Three

Defiance defeated the Streaks 25-20, 25-21, 25-22, Tuesday, Sept. 16, in a non-league contest.

AHS participated in the Golden Spike Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 20, at Springfield High School in Holland. The Streaks lost to the host 25-20, 16-25, 21-25 in their opening match and followed with a 25- 17, 21-25, 22-25 loss to Clay in the next round.

The Blue and Gold finished the day on a winning note, beating Bellevue 25-16, 25-13.

Defiance Def. AHS 25-20, 25-21, 25-22

The Streaks were 63/66 in serving. Jenna Nofziger, Deena Cowell, Stacy Wyse, and Devin Newman each served aces.

Hailey Galvan had seven kills; Emily Snyder and Alyssa Schaub each had five. Wyse and Newman each had four; Melinda Sauder had three.

AHS had 84 digs, and were led by Andrea Allan with 18. Newman had 15; Schaub, 12; Wyse, 11; Nofziger, 10.

Wyse was 67/68 in setting.

AHS was only 60/70 in serve reception and missed on 24 spikes.

Springfield Def. AHS 20-25, 25-16, 25-21

Galvan had seven kills; Wyse and Snyder each had five. Snyder had two solo blocks; Schaub and Allan had 29 of the team's 54 digs. Schaub had 15; Allan had 14.

The Streaks were 61/66 in serve reception.

Clay Def. AHS 17-25, 25-21, 25-22

Schaub had the team's only solo block and had five kills, 10 digs, and served one ace. Wyse had seven kills and was 55/56 in setting. Newman and Galvan each had six kills. Allan had 11 digs and one save.

Lauren Kern served the team's other ace, and had one kill and nine digs.

AHS Def. Bellevue 25-16, 25-13

The Streaks got back on the winning track against Bellevue.

Snyder, Schaub, and Galvan each had solo blocks; Nofziger served three aces while Cowell and Schaub each had one.

Newman and Schaub had six kills each. Wyse had five; Snyder, four; Galvan, three; and Allan, one.

Wyse was 39/39 in setting and had four saves.

The team was 46/50 in serving, 27/29 in serve reception, 64/64 in setting, and 57/69 in attacks.
