Streaks Run Tri-Meet With Montpelier, Bryan
      The Archbold cross country teams hosted a tri-meet with Bryan and Montpelier, Tuesday, Sept. 16. Bryan won the boys race with 25 points. Archbold was second with 38; Montpelier followed with 61. The Golden Bears also won the girls race, with 22 points. Montpelier had 43; Archbold had 79.

Streaks Take Second At NWOAL Golf Tourney
      Archbold improved on last year's fifth-place finish in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League golf tournament with a second-place showing, Friday, Sept. 19, at Auglaize Country Club, Defiance. Bryan won the meet with a team score of 291. The Streaks finished with 317; Wauseon, last year's champion, was third, with 319.

AHS Volleyball Drops Three
      After winning seven of its first eight matches this season, the Archbold volleyball team lost three of four last week and fell 8-4 on the season. Defiance defeated the Streaks 25-20, 25-21, 25-22, Tuesday, Sept. 16, in a non-league contest.

Blue Streaks Trounce Bulldogs, Stay Perfect
      The Archbold football team journeyed to Swanton, Friday, Sept. 19, and walked away with a 41-21 Northwest Ohio Athletic League victory. With the win the Streaks stay perfect at 5-0, 3-0 NWOAL. They were ranked fourth in Division IV by the Associated Press last week.

Tennis Team Beats OG, Falls To Fremont, Bryan
      The Archbold girls tennis team defeated Ottawa-Glandorf but lost to Fremont St. Joe and Bryan last week. The Streaks opened the week with a 4-1 loss to Fremont St. Joe, Monday, Sept. 15. They edged out Ottawa-Glandorf 3-2, Tuesday, Sept. 16.

AHS Girls Soccer Wins Two
      The Archbold soccer team recorded two wins last week to improve to 7-2-1 on the season. The Streaks beat Wauseon 5-1, Tuesday, Sept. 16, then followed with a 4-0 defeat of Swanton, Thursday, Sept. 18. AHS 5, Wauseon 1 Trisha King scored the game's first goal. Jessica Ramirez added the second goal of the first half. Alicia Drewes dribbled in for the Streaks' third goal.

JV Volleyball Wins Three
      The Archbold junior varsity volleyball team traveled to St. Paul Church, Napoleon, Saturday, Sept. 13 to compete in a tri-match with Fairview and Napoleon. The Streaks won both matches in two games, defeating Fairview 25-18, 25-21 and Napoleon 25-15, 25-14.

      Mike Kennedy, Stryker, aced the par-3, 185-yard 14th hole at the golf course in Stryker, Friday, Sept. 19. His club of choice was a 5-iron.

Pettisville Volleyball Wins Four Of Five
      The Pettisville volleyball team was busy last week, playing five matches and winning four. The Birds opened the week with a 25-20, 25-20, 25-12 victory over Rossford, Monday, Sept. 15. They traveled to Fayette, Tuesday, Sept. 16, and came home with a 25-8, 25-22, 25- 22 Buckeye Border Conference win.

Pettisville Sixth At BBC Tourney
      The Pettisville golf team finished sixth in the 2008 Buckeye Border Conference championships, Friday, Sept. 19. Stryker won the title with a team score of 324. The Panthers' Zac Erb was match medalist with an 18-hole score of 72.

Pettisville Finishes Strong At Van Wert
      Both Pettisville cross country teams placed runners near the top at the 2008 Van Wert County Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 20. In the girls race, freshman Tanner Hostetler ran to a second place finish, crossing the finish line in 19 minutes, 18 seconds.

Blue Streak Soccer Club
      U-14 Girls The Archbold U14 girls soccer team opened its fall season at Wauseon, Monday, Sept. 15. The Streaks came out strong, with Becca Gerig scoring two goals in the first half. Wauseon scored in the second half but the Streaks held on for a 2-1 win. Amanda Lovejoy and Meggie Yoder were strong in the goal.

      Boys U-11 The Archbold Boys 11 and Under soccer team had its fifth game, Saturday, Sept. 20 against Valentis Athletica. The Blue Streaks started out sluggish in the first half on an 81-degree sunny day. AJ Short scored first for Archbold. Valentis had several breakaways and went past Archbold's fullbacks, who were left alone against three Valentis players.
