AHS Spikers Win Four Matches

Andrea Allen (5) backs her up.- photo by Scott Schultz The Archbold volleyball team went on a tear last week, winning all four of their matches to raise their record to 7-1, 4-0 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.

The Streaks opened the week with a 25-23, 25-19, 25- 11 league victory at Patrick Henry, Tuesday, Sept. 9. They followed with a 25-6, 25-14, 25- 18 NWOAL victory over Bryan, Thursday, Sept. 11.

In a Saturday, Sept. 13 trimatch at Napoleon with the Wildcats and Fairview, the Streaks beat the Apaches 25- 19, 25-13 before disposing of the host 25-13, 25-21.

AHS Def. PH

25-23, 25-19, 25-11

Lauren Kern led AHS in the serving department. She was 10/10 with an ace. Devin Newman was 9/9 with an ace; Deena Cowell was 15/17 with two aces; Alyssa Schaub was 9/9. As a team AHS was 68/72 for 94%.

Schaub had 24 digs; Andrea Allan had 14. Allan was 14/15 in serve reception; Newman was 10/10.

Wyse was 20/23 in attacks with nine kills; Melinda Sauder was 14/16 with six kills; Hailey Galvan was 15/18 with six kills.

Newman had three solo blocks. Wyse was 44/44 in setting; Kern was 28/28.

AHS Def. Bryan

25-6, 25-14, 25-18

"We had a very nice night against Bryan," said Julie Nofziger, AHS head coach. "I felt we controlled the net and played more consistent."

Kern was 15/17 in serving with four aces; Schaub was 14/14 with two aces. Allan and Cowell each had an ace.

Newman and Schaub each had 12 digs; Wyse had 11 and was 36/36 in setting. Kern was 33/33 in setting.

Schaub was 10/12 in attacks with seven kills. Wyse was 16/19 with six kills; Sauder was 21/23 with five kills; Emily Snyder was 12/12 with five kills.

Schaub had three solo blocks. Galvan and Snyder each had two; Newman had one.

AHS Def. Fairview

25-19, 25-13

Kern was 13/13 in serving. Snyder had five kills while Newman, Schaub, and Galvan each had four; Wyse, three; and Sauder, one.

AHS Def. Napoleon

25-13, 25-21

The Streaks had five aces served by Jenna Nofziger, Cowell, Wyse, Schaub, and Kern. As a team, the Streaks were 47/50 in serving.

Schaub had 18 digs and three kills. Galvan led the team in kills, with six. Wyse had five; Sauder, four; Snyder, two; and Newman, one.

Wyse was 34/36 in setting.
