The Archbold soccer team improved to 5-2-1 with a win, tie, and loss last week. The Streaks started the week with a 4-1 loss at Liberty Benton, Monday, Sept. 8. AHS hosted Bryan, Thursday, Sept. 11 and played to a 2-2 tie. The Streaks went on the road to Crestview, Saturday, Sept. 13, and came home with a 3-0 victory. More ... It's been 20-plus years, but an Archbold record fell in the Streaks' 48-21 rout of the visiting Evergreen Vikings, Friday, Sept. 12. Jake Fidler, senior, crossed the goal line six times on his way to breaking a record held by Andy Peterson and Doug Leu. More ... The Archbold girls tennis team edged Defiance 3-2, Tuesday, Sept. 9 and blanked Toledo Christian 5-0, Thursday, Sept. 11, to up its record to 5-4. AHS 3, Defiance 2 Singles: 1. Emily Fredrick (A) def. Kaitlyn Soukup 6-0, 6-4. More ... The Archbold cross country teams traveled to Evergreen to run a tri-meet with Evergreen and Patrick Henry, Tuesday, Sept 9. Archbold won the boys race with 20 points. Evergreen was second with 47; Patrick Henry followed with 59. More ... Cory Wickerham, Stryker, aced the par-3 155-yard eighth hole at the golf course in Stryker on Thursday, Sept. 11. His club of choice was an 8-iron. More ... The Archbold cross country teams ran in the rain and mud at the Delta Cross Country Invitational, Saturday Sept. 13. The Blue Streak boys placed seventh out of 18 teams with 238 points. Delta won with a low score of 62. Lenawee Christian was second with 95; Fayette rounded out the top three with 120. More ... Pettisville High School cheerleaders tied with Holgate for third place in the Fulton County Fair cheer competition for junior high and middle schools, Sunday, Aug. 31. The Archbold volleyball team went on a tear last week, winning all four of their matches to raise their record to 7-1, 4-0 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League. The Streaks opened the week with a 25-23, 25-19, 25- 11 league victory at Patrick Henry, Tuesday, Sept. 9. They followed with a 25-6, 25-14, 25- 18 NWOAL victory over Bryan, Thursday, Sept. 11. More ... The Archbold golf team upped its record to 9-3 with three straight victories last week. The Streaks defeated Antwerp 159-170, Monday, Sept. 8. AHS bested Holgate 161-189, Tuesday, Sept. 9. Both matches were on the road. The Blue and Gold returned to their home course in Wauseon, Thursday, Sept. 11, where they beat Evergreen 154-187. More ... The Pettisville soccer team split a difficult week, first hosting Toledo Waite, Monday, Sept. 8 and winning 4-1. The Blackbirds traveled to Kalida for a matchup with the fourth-ranked Division III Wildcats, Friday Sept. 12. In a rainy and muddy game, Pettisville played to a scoreless tie at halftime, but the Wildcats showed why they are ranked so high, winning 4-0. More ... Doug Krauss, Archbold, will be honored at the 35th annual athletic hall of fame ceremony at The University of Findlay, Saturday, Sept. 20. As a freshman, Krauss participated in junior varsity basketball, but it was on the baseball diamond that he excelled. More ... The Streaks took care of business, winning in two games, 25- 15, 25-20. Betsy Wyse had five kills; Alyssa Gobrogge and Nicole Hurst, four each; Sarah Wyse, Mindy Wyse and Laura Short, three each. S. Wyse and Gobrogge had two aces each. More ... Archbold Cross Country The Archbold junior high cross country teams had a tri-meet with Napoleon and St. Paul, Tuesday, Sept. 9. The Archbold boys team won with a score of 24. Napoleon was second with 46. St. Paul had 56. Scoring for Archbold were Zeb Frank, Alex Hurst, Seth Yoder, Ben Eggers and Ryan King. More ... Boys U-11 The Archbold Blue Streak Boys U-11 soccer team had its third home game, Thursday, Sept. 11 against the Defiance Strikers. Austin Welch was the first to score two minutes into the game. AJ Short scored next. Jared Kidder switched with Kyle Kinsey as goalie during the first half. Seth Mayer scored three goals before halftime. More ... |
