Fayette Youth Honored At Ohio State Fair
      Trishton Rash, Fayette, had the 4-H grand and reserve champion goats at the 2008 Ohio State Fair. Rebecca Rash, Fayette, received first place in the 12-15- year-old goat showmanship competition. She also received first place in the goat skillathon for 14-year-olds, with two grand champions.

Archbold Library Board Discusses Finances
      Archbold Community Library finances are holding at about the same level as previous years, according to Joyce Klingelsmith, library director. At the Monday evening, Sept. 15, library board meeting, the director also warned expenses are increasing.

Junior Fair Sale Donations Total Nearly $200,000
      At the Fulton County Junior Fair Sale, Tuesday, Sept. 8, donations totaled $194,090. With the market value of the animals included, the sale tallied $254,836.32. A total of 524 market animals were sold during the sale at the fairgrounds.

Health Department Holds Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic
      The Fulton County Health Department, in conjunction with county rescue crews and other first responders, will hold a drive-thru flu shot clinic, Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Health Department office parking lot.

Fulton County Voters Face One Contested Race Nov. 4
      When Fulton County voters go to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 4, they will have one contested local race to decide. Michael T. VanWagner, rural Swanton, Democrat, is challenging Dean Genter, rural Pettisville, Republican, for a county commissioner seat. Genter has held the post since 2001.

West Nile Virus Concerns Return With Recent Rains
Several Persons Treated For Possible Exposure To Rabies
      While no Fulton County residents have suffered from infections caused by the West Nile virus, several county residents have received treatment for rabies. Mosquitoes, which spread West Nile virus to humans, have been the victims of the hot, dry summer in the Archbold area.

Archbold School Board Approves Contracts, Calendar Adjustments
      The Archbold Area School Board went into executive session for almost an hour during its Monday night, Sept. 15, meeting. Roxanne Burk, rural West Unity, asked to speak to the board regarding a playground duty position at Archbold Middle School. The board invited Mrs. Burk and several of her supporters into an executive session to discuss the classified contract.

Park Board Sends Scholarship Guidelines To Village Council
      Members of the Archbold Park Board reviewed guidelines for the proposed park scholarship program at its Tuesday night, Sept. 9, meeting. The guidelines will go to Archbold Village Council in October, said Jennifer Kidder, Archbold Parks and Recreation Department director.
