Rainy Days Don't Get Her Down
      Presley Cook, 4, Archbold, was having a blast jumping in a water puddle, Sunday, Sept. 14. Children didn't have many opportunities this summer to play in the rain; only 1.9 inches of rain fell on Archbold from July 8 through Sept. 2. Since Sept. 3, however, the area has received 4.1 inches of precipitation.

Local School Board Creates Permanent Improvement Fund
AEA President Questions Move
      John Downey, president of the Archbold Education Association, questioned the wisdom of the Archbold Area School Board in deciding to set aside 1.8 mills for a permanent improvement fund. Nevertheless, the board went ahead with the move, which will re-direct about $390,000 per year from the school district general fund to a permanent improvement fund.

Approval Of School Bus Routes Delayed
      Archbold Area School Board members must hold a special meeting soon to approve school bus routes for the 2008-09 school year. The board was set to approve the routes as part of its Monday night, Sept. 15, meeting, but David Yoder, board member, said he wanted more information and more time to study the routes.

      Dennis Howell, Archbold Village administrator, said a failed transformer near the Archbold municipal building resulted in a power outage that knocked out downtown traffic signals, Monday, Sept. 15, beginning at about 8:55 a.m.
