Aug. 31

1:47 pm: Auto theft, 300 block E. Mechanic St.

4:27 pm: Theft from vehicle, Beck Transportation.

Sept. 1

12:14 am: Nimrod Rodriguez, 26, Archbold, reported the rear license plate from his pickup truck was lost in Archbold sometime between Thursday, Aug. 28 and Friday, Aug. 29.

Sept. 2

9:36 am: A car, driven by Ruby Short, 87, Archbold, was traveling south on N. Defiance St., stopped in traffic about 133 feet north of Stryker St., waiting on a train. Short, with passenger Lawrence Short, 87, Archbold, attempted to drive around a vehicle stopped in front of them on the right side, and collided with a parked minivan owned by Stanwyn and Suzanne Short, Archbold. Ruby Short was cited for improper passing on the right.

12:03 pm: Citations issued to Samuel Omondi, 21, Archbold, speeding, no operator license, Miller Ave.

2:10 pm: Vandalism, Archbold High School.

4:20 pm: A van, driven by Robby J. Crowell, 41, Huntertown, Ind., backing from parking space at Frozen Specialties, Inc., and collided with a parked sport-utility owned by Lori A. Bruce, Defiance.

Sept. 3

10:35 am: A minivan, driven by Robert R. Southworth, 81, Defiance, traveling north on S. Defiance St., stopped on the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks, when an approaching train activated the gates and lights. To get off the railroad tracks, Southworth backed his vehicle, colliding with a minivan driven by Roger W. Grime, 64, Reynoldsburg, stopped behind the Southworth vehicle. Southworth was issued a citation for improper backing.

3:28 pm: Citations to Zachary Hallett, 18, rural Delta, and Shonda L. Zimmerman, 36, rural Fremont, Ind., failed to stop for a school bus with lights flashing. Both vehicles passed the bus alternately.

10:01 pm: A semi truck, driven by Kesha L. Cobb, 30, Bluffton, Ga., owned by USA Truck- Logistics, Burns Harbor, Ind., was traveling east on Stryker St. and attempted to turn right to go south on N. Defiance St. Its wheels struck the bell bollard on the southwest corner of the intersection. The truck became stuck and had to be lifted off the bollard. Cobb was cited for an improper right turn.

11:57 pm: Theft of bicycle, 108 Pleasant St.

10:57 am: Loud music complaint, Colony Meadows, advised to turn it down.

11:12 am: Dog defecating in yard, 100 block S. Defiance St., owner advised, promised to care for problem.

3:34 pm: Citation to Kimberly Gunther, 35, Archbold, stop sign, DeGroff St. at Walnut St.

Sept. 6

11 pm: Loud music, 400 block High St., advised to turn it down.

Note: During the preceding week, Archbold police officers issued three verbal warnings for riding bicycles on downtown sidewalks. Other verbal warnings: stop sign, stop bar, traffic signal, wrong way, no trucks, bicycle riding on wrong side of road, expired registration, marked lanes.
