Blue Streaks Open Season With Two Wins, One Loss

The Streaks hosted Stryker and Crestview, Saturday, Aug. 30. AHS easily beat the Panthers 25-9, 25-12, but fell to Crestview 25-19, 19-25, 18-25.

AHS Def. Montpelier 25-7, 25-16, 25-14

After a quick first game, Archbold jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the second behind the serving of Jenna Nofziger. The junior served for seven straight points.

The Streaks built the lead to 20-10, and a Hailey Galvan kill at game point gave AHS the game.

In game three, the Locos were leading 13-12 when Andrea Allan stepped up to serve. The junior almost served out the match, but at match point, 24-13, her serve went long.

Devin Newman closed out the match with a kill on the very next play for the league victory.

Newman was 8/8 in serving with one ace and 18/19 in attacks with eight kills. Allan was 19/22 with two aces. Galvan was 12/13 in attacks with eight kills.

Stacy Wyse was 8/9 in serve reception; Deena Cowell, 6/7; and Nofziger, 3/3.

Newman, Alyssa Schaub, and Galvan each had solo blocks.

AHS Def. Stryker 25-9, 25-12

The Streaks were 43/49 in serving, 17/17 in serve reception, 41/41 in setting, and 35/42 in attacks.

Newman was 12/12 in serving; Nofziger was 10/11 with two aces. Lauren Kern was 8/8 in attacks with four kills. Schaub and Melinda Sauder each had five kills; Newman and Galvan each had three.

Wyse was 27/27 in setting.

Crestview Def. AHS 19-25, 25-19, 25-18

AHS was 55/58 in serving, 55/63 in serve reception, 107/107 in setting, and 150/175 in attacks.

Cowell was 13/13 in serving and 9/9 in serve reception. Nofziger was 11/11 in serving with two aces; Schaub was 9/9 with one ace.

Sauder had eight kills; Galvan, seven; Schaub and Newman, five each.
