Streaks Top Pilots 38-20 In Season Opener
      The 2008 high school football season is officially underway, and the Archbold Blue Streaks opened with an offensive showing against the Ayersville Pilots, Friday, Aug. 22.

Blue Streak Tennis Goes Undefeated Last Week
      The Archbold girls tennis team defeated Ottawa-Glandorf and Rossford by identical 3-2 scores last week. The Streaks beat the Titans, Tuesday, Aug. 19, and the Bulldogs, Thursday, Aug. 21. Archbold is 2-3 on the season.

AHS CC Runs At Defiance
      The Archbold cross country teams competed in their first meet of the season at the Defi ance Early Bird, Saturday, Aug. 23. Boys Archbold's Adrian Ramirez crossed the line in 18 minutes, 49 seconds, to be the first Streak to finish.

PHS Volleyball Opens Season With Win, Loss
      The Pettisville volleyball team opened its season with a tri-match against North Baltimore and Columbus Grove at North Baltimore, Saturday, Aug. 23. The Birds beat the Tigers in two games, 25-11, 25-13. Columbus Grove beat PHS in the Birds' second match, 25-21, 25-20.

Blue Streak Golf Beats Stryker, Falls To Bryan
      The Archbold golf team split a pair of matches last week. The Streaks beat Stryker 155-167, Monday, Aug. 18, but Bryan beat AHS 149-160, Thursday, Aug. 21. AHS 155, Stryker 167 Steven Kinsman was match medalist with a round of 34, 2- under par. He birdied the second and fifth holes, and was the only golfer to finish under par.

PHS Soccer Starts Season 2-0
      The Pettisville soccer team opened its season with a Monday, Aug. 18 home match against Rossford. Pettisville scored two goals in the first half and three in the second half for a 5-0 victory. Next on Pettisville's schedule were the Continental Pirates, Thursday, Aug. 21. Pettisville scored on a penalty kick in the second half for a 1-0 victory.

AHS Soccer Splits Games Last Week
      The Archbold High School girls soccer team split a pair of games last week. The Streaks lost their season opener 4-1 at Springfield, Tuesday, Aug. 19. AHS evened its record at 1-1 with a 2-1 home victory over Rossford, Saturday, Aug. 23. Alicia Drewes scored both goals.

Accident Relegates Hornish To 37th Place Finish Sat.
      Sam Hornish Jr., AHS '98 and Indianapolis 500 winner, finished the Sharpie 500 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in 37th place, Saturday, Aug. 23. Starting in the 35th spot, Hornish ran well until he was collected in a multi-car accident on lap 216.

Blue Streak Soccer Club
      The Archbold Blue Streaks youth soccer club kicks off its fifth year with three girls teams and seven boys teams ranging in age from 9-and-under to 18- and-under. The ten teams feature 123 players, with most season-opening matches occurring after Labor Day.

Area Racers Win In Three States
      Racers from the Archbold area picked up wins in three states between Friday, Aug. 22 and Sunday, Aug. 24. Vance Nofziger, Pandora, formerly of Archbold, and Jeremy Mann, Archobld, swept their classes at the Ft. Wayne, Ind. oval race track Friday night. Nofziger was racing in the econo seniors, while Mann took on the gold restrictor plate junior gas class.

      Racers were at Jackson, Mich. for karts paved oval racing Friday, Aug. 15, for mini-sprints on the dirt oval Saturday, Aug. 16 at Jackson, and for karts on the dirt oval at Edon Saturday. Aug. 16.
