Archbold Schools To Roll Back Millage
      The Archbold Area School Board authorized David Deskins, district superintendent, and Christine Ziegler, district treasurer, to start the process to roll back some of the millage the district collects, a move that could save the owner of a $100,000 home about $77 a year.

Parks & Recreation Plans Scholarship Program
      The Archbold Parks and Recreation Department is looking into a scholarship program to assist families with the cost of participation in some programs. "With the economy the way it is, lots of people are struggling. We're afraid one of the first things that will get cut will be participation in our programs," said Jennifer Kidder, Archbold Parks and Rec director.

Village Storage Bldg. Over Estimated Price
      Archbold Village Council approved a bid for a new 4,900 square-foot storage building that was $37,989 over the engineer's estimated price. Council accepted the bid of $217,989 of Midwest Contracting, Holland, to construct the building, which is 21.11% above the engineer's estimate of $180,000.

Union Street Resident Complains To Council
      John Smallman, 101 Union Street, discussed his concerns about the construction of his driveway approach with Archbold Village Council at its Monday night, Aug. 18 meeting. Lingvai Construction, Bryan, is the contractor on the Union Street reconstruction project.

Zoning Board Approves Two Variance Requests
      Archbold Board of Zoning Appeals has granted two variance requests. At a Thursday, July 31 meeting, the board granted a variance to Steve Roth, Wauseon, to convert a home at 305 N. Lincoln Street from a singlefamily residence to a two-unit duplex.

Sauder Village Receives Pioneer Settlement Grant
      Sauder Village was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Toledo Community Foundation recently. The Toledo Community Foundation, Inc., announced that the Andersons Fund Supporting Organization of the TCF had awarded the grant to Sauder Village for support of the Village's Pioneer Settlement, part of its Historic Timeline project.

Car Wash Raises Over $4,500
      Archbold High School football players and managers were busy at AHS, Saturday morning, Aug. 16, washing cars to benefit Tyler Priest. Priest, a former AHS student now living in Van Wert, was injured in a tractor accident July 6 and remains hospitalized at Toledo Children's Hospital. The Archbold event raised over $4,500.
