Four Return To Links At AHS

Kevin Miller, Archbold High School head golf coach, returns four letterwinners from last year's squad that finished 61-34, second in the sectional tournament, and 11th in the district.

In his fourth season at the helm, Miller said his key strength this season is experience.

Three seniors and one junior make up the returnees. Seniors Tyler Bernath, Tyson Bostelman, and Steven Kinsman lead the way; junior Jacob Nafziger rounds out the top golfers.

Six solid golfers are competing for the fifth and sixth positions.

"We have experience coming back, but we will need to be consistent for the whole season," said Miller. "Some of the golfers get into an inconsistent streak, sometimes. That's all part of the game.

"We should have a solid season and be more competitive than last year. Our goal is to improve our record and finish higher in leagues and tournaments. We are in a tough league.

"We want to improve in as many areas as possible; that includes player improvement, more consistency, better finishes in tournaments, and beating more league teams.

"We should be in the top half of the league. Bryan appears to be the strongest; hopefully we will be in the mix with them."

Archbold opened its season at the Defiance Invitational, Monday, Aug. 11.
