Thieves Burglarize Home, Steal From Parked Cars

A thief or thieves continue to steal from houses and cars in the village.

Rachel Grieser, 407 W. Holland Street, told Archbold Police officers that sometime between 5 pm, Thursday, July 24 and 5:54 pm, Saturday, July 26, someone entered her garage and took the seat post and seat from a bicycle, worth $40, and a $30 tennis racket.

Three aluminum lawn chairs, valued at $300, were taken from her back yard. Total value of the loss is $370. She told offi cers the doors may have been open when the theft occurred.

Cars

Teresa Short, 204 Walnut Street, reported she parked her van in the driveway between her home and the Archbold Methodist Church about 8:30 pm, Monday, July 21. At 10:30 pm, she moved the vehicle into her garage.

The next morning, she discovered $80 in cash was missing from her wallet, and three pairs of sunglasses were missing. Value was about $300.

The vehicle had been left unlocked.

Michaela S. Harris, rural Fayette, told officers she parked her car in the parking lot on West Williams Street in Ruihley Park near the sand volleyball court about 10:05 pm, Monday, July 21. When she returned to the vehicle at 12:05 am the following morning, she discovered a three-week old car stereo and her purse had been stolen, along with $30 in cash, a pair of running shoes and a debit card.

The purse and several other items were found in a nearby trash dumpster.

Value was $292.

Day

Michelle Day, rural Wauseon, told police at about 10 pm, Monday, July 21, she parked her car in front of 404 Ditto St., with the doors open and the windows down. When she returned about 45 minutes later, her purse, with $20, plus credit cards and other items, was missing.

Value was $50.
