Acme Baseball
      Pettisville and Archbold advanced to the district ACME tournament with wins in the Fulton County Sectional last week. In regular-season action, Archbold beat Liberty Center 13-4, Thursday, June 26. Corey Walker was the winning pitcher.

Playing In The Mud
     THE FAM, a team made up of members of West Clinton Mennonite and Pettisville Missionary churches, won the Bullfrog Division of the Oozeball mud volleyball tournament during the Black Swamp Benefit at the Fulton County Fairgrounds. The team also won the contest in 2006. Players included, from left: Tyler Woolace, Justin Rufenacht, Gabe Ruffer, Megan Boetz, Mandy Boetz, and Tom Short. About 200 players took to the mud on Saturday, June 21. The tournament raised about $2,500.- courtesy photo

Little League
      Little League Team 1 traveled to Wauseon to play the Indian "B" team, Friday, June 27. The Streaks used a five-run fourth inning to propel them to a come-from-behind 9-7 win. Levi Wyse made his first start, pitching two innings and giving up seven runs on four hits while walking seven and striking out one.

12 Gold Softball
      The 12 Gold softball team entertained Wauseon, Thursday, June 26 at Memorial Park. With only nine players, the Gold played tough defense. Archbold scored a run in the first inning when Ciara Burris hit in Hannah Kern, and scored the winning run in the third when Jesse Fidler hit a double, scoring Cassidy Williams.

Hornish 29th At Daytona
      Sam Hornish Jr., AHS '98 and Indianapolis 500 winner, finished 29th in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Saturday, July 5. After starting 42nd, Hornish worked his way through the field and was poised for his second top-15 finish in as many starts at the 2.5-mile tri-oval before he was collected in a late-race incident.

Northwest Ohio Federation Baseball League
      Eric Beck, an Archbold High School graduate, had three hits and six runs batted in the Archbold Mustangs' 19-16 Northwest Ohio Federation Baseball League victory over Dave White Chevrolet recently. Grant Trudel, another AHS grad, had three hits and three RBIs.

Frey, Nofziger, Kinsman Win Recent Kart Feature Races
      Archbold area kart racers Danielle Frey, Mike Kinsman, and John Huffman, along with former Archbold resident Vance Nofziger, won feature events in kart racing action. Frey, Pettisville, won the heat race and the feature Thursday night, July 3, in the senior econo class at the Jackson, Mich., paved oval track.
