Local Firm Wins Concrete Bid

Heer Excavating, rural Archbold, was the winning bidder for concrete street improvements and repairs.

Archbold Village Council approved the company bid at the Monday night meeting, July 7.

Heer Excavating bid $173,520, or 7.7%, under the engineer's estimate of $188,000.

Dennis Howell, Archbold village administrator, said village officials had worked with the company numerous times in the past.

Two other firms entered bids. B&J Concrete & Construction, Toledo, bid $174,000, which was $480, or about a quarter of percentage point (.28%) more than the Heer bid.

The B&J bid was $14,000, or about 7.45%, under the engineer estimated cost.

RMH Concrete and Foundations, Collins, Ohio, bid $185,205, which was $11,685, or 6.73%, more than the winning bid. Their bid was $2,795, or about 1.49%, under the engineer's estimate.
