Grease Fire Damages Apartment
      A fire in a Jane Court apartment did approximately $35,000 in damage and claimed the life of a family dog Sunday, July 6. Russ Wyse, Archbold Fire Department assistant chief, said a grease fire started in the kitchen at 12 Jane Court, apartment No. 1, the residence of Amy Mock and her daughter.

More Theft Reports In Archbold
      There were four theft reports in the village of Archbold last week, two of which are similar to previous reports. Martin Schmidt, Archbold Police chief, said the thefts could be connected. In one case, a thief entered an occupied residence and stole audio equipment from a truck; in another case, an in-dash car stereo was taken.

Archbold Man Killed In Car-Train Crash
      William W. Figy, 31, Archbold, died early Monday morning, July 7, after the minivan he was driving was struck by a train. The Ohio State Highway Patrol report states Figy was driving south on Williams County Rd. 18.

Former Archbold Youth Injured In Farm Mishap
      Tyler Priest, 13, Van Wert, formerly of Archbold, was listed in critical condition at Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Ind., on Monday after he was injured in a farm accident. He is the son of Bob Priest, former Archbold High School teacher and football coach. Priest left AHS to become head football coach at Van Wert High School.

      Fulton County Crime Stopper seeks help to solve the theft of more than $3,800 in merchandise from a home in the 13000 block of Co. Rd. J. Sometime between 10:30 pm, Wednesday, June 11, and 1 pm, Thursday, June 12, a thief cut a screen, and broke a glass door to gain access to the home.

Street Signs, Cans Stolen
      Nichole Marie Sebring, 816 West Street, told Archbold Police that three bags full of empty aluminum cans were taken from her property. The theft occurred sometime between noon, Monday, June 30, and 11:05 pm, Tuesday, July 1. The cans were stored outside, she told officers.
