St. John's Christian Hosts Third Bible Quiz Meet
Material quizzed over for the day was Acts 17:10 through 20:12.
"It is just a delight to see the students studying the scriptures, and the fellowship that takes place at the meets is great," said Eric Christman, hosting church pastor.
"Godfearing," St John's team comprised of Amy Christman, Ryan Christman, Morgan Ducey, Chris Jennings, Brandon Lehman, Mackenzie Nofziger, and Jacob Gobrogge, started with two matches in their sanctuary, averaging 130 points per match.
Top scoring team for the day, averaging 168 points, was "Remnant" from Sand Ridge. Members are Whitney, Collin, and Alexis Stamm; Amanda and April Short; and McKenna Rash.
The second-place traveling trophy went to "Some Other Brothers" from Edgerton Alliance, with a 160-point average. Members are Benjy and Michael Sheperd, George Miller, Jacob Karnes, Kristi Frank, and Martin Ivanov.
The third-place team, "Man Eating Worms" from Lockport Mennonite, averaged 150 points and won a pizza certificate. Members are Wesley Short, Audrey Stuckey, Derek Miller, Isaac and Rachel King.
For an added incentive, a pizza certificate was given to the team who had the least amount of errors in their two matches. "Out of Your Minds" from Central Mennonite Church never erred on a question, yet still averaged 123 points per match. Team members are Sarah and Luke Schoenhals, London Smith, Caleb McQuillin, and Natalie Cooley.
New this year, in addition to regular church team quizzing, is mixed team quizzing. Quizzers from different churches are grouped into 16 teams and quiz one match per Sunday. Sunday's top scoring mixed team was Team 2 with 160 points. Members are Michael Sheperd (Edgerton Alliance), Josiah Dahl and Audrey Stuckey (Lockport), Kira Andre (North Clinton) and McKenna Rash (Sand Ridge).
The next meet is Sunday, Feb. 3, 2 p.m., at Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker. For more information, visit www. nwobiblequiz.org.
