JR. HIGH SPORTS DIGEST Archbold moved to 3-0 with a convincing 56-26 victory over Fairview. Taylor Price got Archbold off to a good start by scoring 8 of his 12 points in the opening stanza as the Streaks built a 15-6 lead. Zeb Frank scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the second as Archbold went into the locker room with a 34-15 lead. The Blue Streaks outscored the Apaches 16-2 in the third for a 50-17 advantage. Dylan Lantz scored all 6 of Archbold's points in the fourth. Hitting the road for the first time this year, Archbold traveled to Wauseon. Behind Price's 6 points, the Streaks opened an eight-point lead after the first quarter. Archbold built on its lead in the second as the Streaks outscored the Indians 14-8. Heading into the locker room, Archbold held a commanding 25- 11 lead. The second half was more of the same as Archbold fought its way to a 49- 26 victory. Leading the way was Frank with 11 points. Price and Tyson Dietrich had 8 each. Rounding out the scoring were David Bontrager, 6. Stuart Wyse, Darin Sauder, Levi Gerig and Devin Shannon also scored. In its last game before Christmas break, AMS hosted Anthony Wayne. Anthony Wayne came in at 5-0 and proved to be Archbold's toughest test of the young season. It was hard for Archbold to find its shooting touch in the first quarter as the Generals' defense shut out the Streaks 8-0 after one quarter. The Streaks got things going in the second, outscoring AW 10-6 to head into the locker room trailing 14-10. The second half was evenly played. The Streaks were down by nine with a minute and a half to play. Dietrich hit two 3-pointers to cut the lead to one possession, but the Generals made their free throws to pull out a 37- 33 victory. Dietrich led the way with 14 points. Frank bucketed 11. |
