Archbold Picks Up A Pair Of Road Victories

The Archbold High School boys basketball team took to the road last week and brought home two victories.

Traveling to Evergreen, Thursday, Dec. 6, the Streaks posted a 47-36 Northwest Ohio Athletic League victory.

AHS (4-1, 2-0 NWOAL) brought home a 45-31 win at Holgate, Saturday, Dec. 8.

Hot shooting and three players in double digits led the Streaks past Holgate (2-2).

Trailing 7-6 after the first quarter, the Streaks connected on seven of eight shots and five of six from the three-point line in the second quarter on their way to the win.

For the game, the Blue and Gold hit 47 percent from the field.

Justin Rupp paced the Streaks with 13 points. Gene Goering and Trey Smith chipped in 12 and 11, respectively.

Corey Yaklin led Holgate with 12.

AHS 47, Evergreen 36

Archbold used a strong second half in its NWOAL victory over the Vikings.

The Streaks held a slim 16- 14 lead at the midway point. Behind 17 points from Goering, AHS pulled away in the second half to pick up a 47-36 victory.

Archbold tallied 15 points in the third period and 16 in the fourth, while the Blue and Gold defense held the Vikings to nine points in the third and 13 in the fourth.

Rupp chipped in 10 for AHS.

Evergreen, which fell to 1-3, 0-2 NWOAL, was led by Chad Mossing with 14 points and Corey Truckor with 11.
