Leady Named Top Resident At Fairlawn Haven Dorothy Leady is the Fairlawn Haven December Resident of the Month. She was born in 1920 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to Fairlawn in September 2004 when her health failed. Dorothy's father died shortly after she was born. Her mother remarried and moved to Bowling Green, where Dorothy graduated from high school in 1936. On Oct. 18, 1937, she married Vaine Leady. They had three sons, Larry, Barry, and Gary, and a daughter, Becky Getz. Dorothy liked being a mother and homemaker and made most of her children's clothing. The family moved to Fayette in 1960. Dorothy and Vaine were members of the Fayette Church of the Nazarene, where Dorothy volunteered for the Ladies Aid Society. The couple owned Fayette Antiques. After their children were grown, Dorothy began working at Fayette Tubular. In 1979, Vaine retired and the couple moved to Florida. He died the next year. A year later, Dorothy moved back to Fayette and worked at Fayette Tubular for a few years before retiring. After retiring, she was a part-time secretary for Beaverson Realty and a volunteer at the Bryan thrift store. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and collecting dolls. |
