Arlene G. Nelson Arlene G. Nelson, age 91 years, of Archbold, passed away Saturday afternoon, Dec. 8, 2007, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where she had resided since Sept. 8, 2003. She was born June 5, 1916, hear Wauseon, a daughter of Harold and Elsie (Marzolf) Kling. She married Miles H. Nelson on June 14, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1987. From 1962-1964 Arlene and Miles moved to Jackson, Ky., to do home mission work at Oakdale Christian High School/Boarding School, and lived in the Archbold area 43 years. She was a homemaker, and volunteered at Care and Share Thrift Store. She was a member of the Fayette Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School for over 60 years. She is survived by one son, Miles L. (Sally) Nelson of Rochester, N.Y.; three daughters, Phyllis (J. Timothy) Shumaker of Thornville, Ohio; Esther (Ronald) Borton of Archbold, and Joyce (Wm. Stephen) Hull of Corbin, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren; one great-greatgrandson; two brothers, Vern H. (Cecelia) Kling of Athens, Texas; and Harold (Louise) Kling Jr. of Tedrow; two sisters, Marjorie (Don) Taylor of Tedrow, and Ardith (Burnell) Brandeberry of Toledo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant brother, Voil Louis. Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Fayette Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Winston Hatcliff and J. Timothy Shumaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Tedrow Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fairlawn Chapel from 3-9 p.m. today, Wednesday. Short Funeral Home in Archbold is in charge of the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be given to Gideons International, or Nazarene World Missions. |
