Council Extends Rate Agreements To Firm

Archbold Village Council approved extending water rates for the ConAgra plant at the Monday night, Dec. 3 meeting.

After ConAgra announced the closing of the Archbold facility in 2006, local plant managers, working with the village, came up with incentives and adjustments in water rates. That, along with work within the plant convinced ConAgra to keep the Archbold facility open.

The food processing plant is by far the village's biggest water customer.

The negotiated water rate agreements were set to expire at the end of the year. Council's action extends the agreement for another year.

Dennis Howell, Archbold village administrator, said the agreement will be reviewed in a year.
