Blackbirds Claw Past Panthers

The Pettisville boys basketball team opened its season with a 58-44 victory at Delta, Saturday, Nov. 24.

The Blackbirds outscored Delta in every quarter.

Josh Bruner, a senior, had the hot hand in the first quarter, scoring all eight Pettisville points as the Birds held an 8-7 lead.

Bruner finished with 12 points.

Pettisville outscored Delta 17-11 in the second period with the help of Quinn Nofziger, who hit two three-pointers on his way to a game-high 17 points.

Pettisville went into the locker room with a 25-18 lead.

Pettisville outscored the Panthers 13-11 in the third to push the advantage to 38-29. PHS made 20 points to Delta's 15 in the final eight minutes, including four field goals from Logan Frey. He finished the night with 16 points.

Pettisville was 20/38 from the field, including 4/11 from three-point range. PHS had 30 rebounds and 19 turnovers.

Delta was 15/26 from the field. The Panthers had 18 rebounds and 18 turnovers.
