Blue Streaks Win Sectional Tourney

The Archbold volleyball team, ranked eighth in the final Division III Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association poll, started its post-season with a three-game sectional final victory over Liberty Center.

The top-seeded Streaks (22- 1) won the sectional championship, held at AHS, Saturday, Oct. 20, in three games, 25-14, 25-18, 25-15.

The Tigers (17-6) had advanced to Saturday's final with a 25-21, 18-25, 25-9, 22-25, 15- 9 semifinal victory over Delta, Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Dani Newman led the Steaks in attacks. She was 41/44 for 93%, and pounded 14 kills. She also had 21 digs.

Adi Lange was 23/27 in attacks with13 kills. She had 22 digs and was 14/14 in serve reception.

Lauren Kern served three aces and missing only one serve overall. She also had 10 digs.

Devin Newman and Laura Wyse were both perfect in serving. Devin Newman was 18/18; L. Wyse, 9/9.

Stacy Wyse had 14 digs and 28 assists, while Kenzie Frank had 10 digs.

District

Archbold played Swanton in a district semifinal, last night, Tuesday, at Archbold.

Swanton (13-11) defeated Tinora (14-9) 22-25, 25-20, 25- 7, 29-27 in their sectional final on Saturday.

Tuesday's winner plays the winner of the Coldwater district semifinal in the district final at Napoleon High School, Saturday, Oct. 27, 3 p.m.

The district champion plays the Willard district champion, Wednesday, Oct. 31 in regional play at Liberty-Benton High School. The contest will follow the 6 p.m. match.
