PHS Girls Win Two

Pettisville is 2-1, 1-0 in the BBC.

PHS 50, Delta 30

Pettisville outscored Delta in all four quarters. The first quarter ended with PHS on top 10-8. The Birds picked up their defense in the second, allowing only four points while scoring 10 for a 20-12 halftime lead.

PHS outscored Delta 13-6 in the third for a 33-18 lead going into the fourth quarter and won 50-30.

"We started extremely slow," said Jason Waldvogel, PHS head coach. "Our pressure fi- nally got to them. I believe that was the difference in the game, along with sharing the ball pretty well."

Pettisville shot 21/43 from the floor for 49%. Erica King led all scorers with 21 points. Alexa Short chipped in 10. The Birds were 8/11 from the charity stripe for 73%.

Delta was 14/35 from the floor for 40% and 2/2 from the free throw line. Haley Baun led the Panthers with 16 points.

PHS 65, Edon 44

PHS outscored Edon 13-6 in the first quarter and 25-15 in the second for a 38-21 halftime advantage.

The Birds won the third period 17-13 for a 55-34 lead entering the last quarter. Edon was unable to make up any ground in the final quarter as both teams netted 10 points for the 65-44 PHS victory.

"I thought our pressure got to them," said Waldvogel. "Our ladies played extremely hard. We are getting good play from several different people. We also shot the ball well."

PHS was 26/48 from the floor for 54% and 11/21 from the free throw line for 52%. Spotts led all scorers with 20 points. King and Haley Nofziger scored 13 and 10 respectively.

Edon was 18/41 from the floor for 44% and 5/7 from foul line for 71%.
