Couple Planning Sept. 29 Wedding
      Mindi Shirkey and Brent Roughton, Archbold, announce their engagement. The bride elect is the daughter of Richard and Lesley Shirkey, Bryan, and Sandy Ray, Archbold. She is a 2003 graduate of Archbold High School and a 2005 graduate of Northwest State Community College with an associate degree in office administration.

Couple Celebrates 50th Anniversary
      Gene Waidelich and Mary Alice King were united in marriage Sept. 8, 1957, in West Clinton Mennonite Church. Olen Nofziger officiated the ceremony. They have four sons: Steve (Lisa), Tom (Lori), Gary (Mary), and Ron (Julie); and 15 grandchildren.

"Billy" Takes Prize
      Justin Thatcher, an AHS senior, won the senior showman award in pygmy goat class during Junior Fair competition Monday, Sept. 3. Thatcher's goat is named, "Billy," which, relatives told him, is really the only name for a male goat.

Honor Student
      Melissa J. Lamb, Pettisville, criminal justice technology student at Owens Community College, was named to the honors list, summer semester. Students must achieve a 3.5 grade-point average. ------ A couple held their wedding on the Fulton Co. Fairgrounds in 1936. A Fair Board member conducted the ceremony.

Local Man Assists With Flood Relief
      George Sessen, Archbold, a member of the Fulton County Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) traveled to Ottawa over the weekend of Aug. 25-26 to assist Putnam County Red Cross officials in flood recovery efforts.

Boy Scout Troop Announces Leadership Team, Honors
      Archbold Boy Scout, Troop 63, announced the members of its new leadership team, saw seven troop members advance in rank, and handed out 41 merit badges earned by troop members. The actions came at the troop's last Court of Honor ceremony, Monday, Aug. 27, at the Scout Cabin in Ruihley Park.
