Archbold's Chad Rufenacht and Tyler Short both lost their first round matches at the Div. III state wrestling championships, Thursday, Feb. 28.
Rufenacht (145 lbs.) lost a 15-5 major decision to Curt Levy from West Liberty Salem.
Short lost a 7-5 decision to Troy Christian's Kyle Burns.
Short stayed alive with a pin at 4:32 of Gnadenhutten Indian Valley's Bo Gilmore in the Consolation Round One. Rufenacht lost a 10-1 major decision to Gellaire St. John C.C.'s Zachary Kosky in Consolation Round One to end his state tournament run.
Short went against Worthington Christian's Daniel Foley in Consolation Round 2. Foley came away with a 10-5 decision in overtime, ending Short's tournament run.–Updated 2.29, 1:18 p.m.
