Fire was a friend Monday night, as Archbold firefighters conducted a controlled burn to remove an old house from village-owned property along East Lutz Road. Andy Brodbeck, Archbold Fire Department chief, said blazes were started in the house and rookie firefighters were sent inside to extinguish the fires, providing a realistic training opportunity. Finally, the house was allowed to burn. Motorists reported seeing smoke from the blaze from as far away as Wauseon.- photo by David Pugh
