Archbold 8th Grade Boys Basketball
Archbold traveled to Montpelier, Thursday, Jan. 17 and improved to 9-1 with a 52-38 victory. The first quarter turned into a shootout as the lead changed hands several times and the end-to-end action was fast and furious. The quarter ended in a 16-16 deadlock with Tanner Wyse scoring 10 points, including two three-pointers, and Luke Kammeyer adding six.
The second quarter stayed tight. Neither team had much success stopping one another as the half ended with a tie at 27. The Streaks edged the Locos in the third period 8-6 for a 35-33 lead.
The Blue Streak defense finally came alive in the fourth, allowing five points while the Streaks scored 17, including 9 of 14 at the free-throw line to seal the victory.
"Our defense was the difference in the fourth quarter, and we did a nice job at the free-throw line late in the game," said Brian Ziegler, coach.
Leading the way was Kammeyer with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Tanner Wyse added 12 points, and Nate Rodriguez scored 9. |
