Archbold Girls Soccer Wins Two, Outscores Opponents 14-0
      The Archbold girls soccer team blanked its first two opponents of the season last week. The Streaks opened the season with a 5-0 victory at Springfield High School, Tuesday, Aug. 24. Blue Streaks Trump Aces 47-13
      The Archbold Blue Streaks kicked off the 2010 football season in flying colors, handing the Hicksville Aces a 47- 13 loss in non-league action. “Week one is probably the most nerve-racking game of the season, because you want the kids to be rewarded for everything they have done,” said Bryan Miller, AHS head coach. “I am just really happy for our kids.”

Streak Boys Second At Defiance Early Bird
      The Archbold boys cross country team finished second at the Defiance Early Bird Cross Country Invitational, Saturday, Aug. 28. Napoleon won the 13- team meet with 58 points. Archbold was second with 83; Defiance finished third with 96. Adrian Ramirez was first across the finish line for the Streaks. He finished ninth in 17 minutes, 39.5 seconds.

      Dylan Lilleholm, Pettisville, aced the par-3, 130-yard 16th hole at the golf course in Stryker on Wednesday, Aug. 25. His club was a pitching wedge.

Blue Streak Girls Tennis Drops Three
      The Archbold High School girls tennis team lost three matches last week to drop to 1-4 on the season. The Streaks traveled to Bryan, Monday, Aug. 23, and were defeated by the Bears 4-1. Archbold hosted Ottawa- Glandorf, Tuesday, Aug. 24, and was defeated 4-1. Rossford came to town, Thursday, Aug. 26. The Bulldogs were victorious, 3-2.

Stryker Beats Archbold In Non-League Match
      Stryker defeated Archbold 160-169 in non-league golf action, Monday, Aug. 23, at Wauseon. The Panthers’ Jared De- Groff was match medalist, shooting a 37. Hunter Clingamen shot a 39, followed by Trey Saunders, 40; Mason Fox, 44; Taylor Brown, 46; and Dylan Lilleholm, 47.

Blackbird Golf Falls To N. Central, Fayette
      The Pettisville golf team dropped two Buckeye Border Conference matches to North Central and Fayette last week. North Central crushed the Blackbirds, 177-235, at Wauseon, Monday, Aug. 23. NC’s Brandon Turner led all golfers with a 41; teammate Clayton Vandervoorde was a stroke behind at 42.

Archbold Boys Soccer 2-1 After First Week
      The Archbold boys varsity soccer team kicked off its inaugural season with two wins in its first three outings. The Streaks hosted Toledo St. John’s Jesuit, Tuesday, Aug. 24. A Titan foul with 34:56 left in the first half gave Archbold midfielder Aaron Bontrager a free kick from 35 yards.

Blackbird Boys Soccer Wins One, Ties One
      The Pettisville boys soccer team defeated Rossford 2-0 in its opening game of the season, Monday, Aug. 23, at Pettisville. David Reyes and Jacob Rupp scored the Birds’ two goals. Philip Roth assisted on both. PHS hosted Continental, Thursday, Aug. 26. The squads played to a 2-2 tie. Blackbird goals were scored by Rupp, with an assist from Reyes, and Gabe Valdez.

PHS Volleyball Wins Tri-Match With PH, Columbus Grove
      The Pettisville volleyball team opened its season on a winning note, defeating Patrick Henry and Columbus Grove in a tri-match in the Bird Cage, Saturday, Aug. 28. The Birds defeated the Patriots 25-21, 13-25, 25-23 in the opening match. Pettisville finished the day with a 25-15, 19-25, 25- 16 victory over the Bulldogs.
